Watchly

Every streaming service, one home.

The problem
Finding where a movie actually streams means checking five apps, each with its own regional catalog — and even once you find it, tracking what to watch (and with whom) lives in yet another app.
What I built
V1 shipped in 2025; in 2026 I rebuilt it from the ground up with everything I'd learned since. Region-aware availability across streaming, rent, and buy; shareable watchlists with statuses and notes; profiles with follows and taste cards; and two discovery modes — Watchly Swipe, a keyboard-friendly swipe deck, and Tonight's Briefing, a daily pick curated from your own library instead of an algorithm feed.
Role
Design, frontend, backend, deploy — solo, end to end. Twice.

Vybra

Playlists that match the mood you're actually in.

The problem
Music apps recommend from your history, not from how you feel right now. The gap between your mood and your queue is real — comfort, energy, and focus all need different sound.
What I built
A React Native iOS app that reads emotional context through a lightweight onboarding flow and generates Spotify playlists to match — shipped as an MVP in two weeks with a co-developer.
Role
Founder / developer — product, mobile app, and Spotify integration — with my Day One Labs co-founder.

Listo landing page — know your grocery total before checkout

[03]2026Coming soon

Listo

Know your grocery total before checkout.

The problem
Grocery budgets die in the aisle — prices vary by store, mental math gives up around item twelve, and the real total only reveals itself at the register.
What I built
A mobile grocery-budgeting app that keeps a live running total as you shop. Receipt and barcode scans feed real prices, community estimates fill the gaps with confidence indicators, "Ask Listo" adds items in plain language, and it all works offline in a signal-dead supermarket aisle. Philippines-first — presyo listahan.
Role
Backend, end to end — data model, APIs, community pricing — with my Day One Labs co-founder building the app.

[03]Capabilities

Full-stack by default.

Comfortable owning a feature from the database to the deploy to the pixels. Here's the shape of that.

01

Frontend Engineering

Interfaces that feel fast and finished — component systems, complex state, motion with restraint, and accessibility as a default, not a retrofit.

React / Next.js / TypeScript / Tailwind CSS / Framer Motion

02

Backend & APIs

The parts users never see but always feel — REST APIs, auth flows, data modeling, and third-party integrations that hold up in production.

Node.js / Ruby on Rails / PostgreSQL / Drizzle / REST / OpenAI API

03

Infrastructure & Delivery

Shipping is a feature. CI/CD pipelines, cloud databases, containerized deploys, and environments that don't surprise you on Friday.

Google Cloud / Vercel / Docker / GitHub Actions / CI/CD

04

Product Engineering

Zero-to-one with a product brain — dashboards, internal tools, role-based access, and onboarding flows, scoped and shipped without ceremony.

Dashboards / Internal tools / Auth & RBAC / 0→1

05

Mobile

Native-feeling apps from a shared codebase — shipped to real users, with the same care for polish as anything on the web.

React Native / Expo / NativeWind / Zustand

06

Design & Multimedia

The creative edge

The secondary edge: three years of professional design before software. Visual systems, brand thinking, and the pixel judgment most teams have to rent.

[06]About

I build like an engineer and finish like a designer.

I'm Marc — a software engineer in Metro Manila working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure. I studied computer science at the University of the Philippines, sharpened up at Avion School, and have spent the last two years shipping production software: banking flows at a fintech, and now leading end-to-end product development at a New York startup, remotely.

I care about the whole product, not just my diff — the data model that won't hurt later, the empty state nobody specced, the way a screen feels while it loads. Zero-to-one is my favorite altitude: it demands engineering judgment and product taste in the same breath.

Before software, I spent three years as a multimedia designer in esports — brand systems, campaign assets, relentless weekly deadlines. That's where the visual instinct comes from. I don't hand polish off to someone else; it's built in.
